Salzburg in & on our heads…
Even though the town of Salzburg is maybe not a fashionista’s number one hotspot, it is still one of the places to be for the Austrian upper class in summer, thanks to the annual glory of Salzburg festival with all its notable theatre and opera productions alongside a great number of concerts and even exhibitions (actually, my friend Christiane has an exhibition opening in Gallery 5020 tonight, so that might well justify my getting into a car this afternoon…).
Fashion-wise, the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of Salzburg this morning was the new store opened by the Viennese millinery dynasty Mühlbauer. Salzburg is of course a desination very popular among the Japanese, and so are Mühlbauer hats… Would seem like a good idea for Klaus and Marlies Mühlbauer to expand their anyway quite successful business to Austria’s “festival town”.
I think some of their models for fall 2009 are hilarious, in the best sense… Even if it might take some courage to get away with them… But people who like hats seem to be particularly brave where fashion is concerned.

You can leave your hat on, baby…
